Plan d'eau du Monteuil |
Located not far from the train station and the Seine River, the “Monteuil” Pond offers to local people as well as tourists visiting the area, a new relaxing place on the outskirts of the lovely town. The town gradually bought parts of this former quarry and its surroundings, and turned it into a space dedicated to the preservation and discovery of our natural heritage. The area consists in ponds and a meadow flooded in winter and is accessible from downtown by foot, bike or car. It extends over 35 ha and is landscaped for walking and the discovery of nature (observation of birds, local fauna and flora). It has become a living laboratory for the “Bassée” wetlands.
