This small market town is nested at the bottom of a green hill topped by a castle, wich is now ruined. The town’s high street is lined with timber-framed houses dating from the 16th century. In an adjacent street the so- called “Renaissance” house can be recognized by its Saint Roch statue and by its carved woodwork. Its church has stained glass windows, statues and amazing furniture. Its Templar Chapel surrounded with hospital buildings (hamlet of Avalleur) constitutes an exceptional medieval site.
