The Forêt d'Orient Regional Natural Park is a site of major ornithological interest, due to the diversity of its aquatic, marsh and terrestrial habitats and, due to its strategic location in relation to the migratory routes of the Western Palearctic avifauna. More than 250 species of birds have been recorded on the large Aube lakes and their surroundings. Amateur or experienced ornithologists, we invite you to come and observe the birds of the Park throughout the year. Highlights of the year: the autumn migration with its cohorts of common cranes; wintering with 20,000 to 40,000 birds depending on the weather conditions and the breeding season. Installed in 2021 on the Fontaine aux Oiseaux site, the observatory is located on the tail of the Lac du Temple. This wooden house allows everyone to observe the different species of birds present around the lake. Please note: access from the Forêt du Temple car park, then take the Fontaine aux Oiseaux forest road.
