The Forêt d'Orient Regional Natural Park is a site of major ornithological interest, due to the diversity of its aquatic, marsh, and terrestrial habitats and its strategic location in relation to the migratory routes of the Western Palearctic avifauna. More than 250 bird species have been recorded on the large Aube lakes and their surroundings. Whether you are an amateur or experienced birdwatcher, we invite you to come and observe the birds of the Park throughout the year. Highlights of the year: the autumn migration with its cohorts of common cranes; the wintering with 20,000 to 40,000 birds depending on the weather conditions and the breeding season. Located in Radonvilliers, this observatory is a meeting place for all local ornithologists. Lake Amance is indeed the richest of our lakes for nesting avifauna. Located at the back of a small reed bed opening onto large mudflats, you can observe small waders and other waders up close, which are often difficult to identify. It is also the primary wintering site in France for the Bewick's Swan, which comes to us from its distant Siberia. Accessible to all, moderately easy for wheelchair users.
