Le Marcel à vélo : le vélo libre-service à assistance électrique

SELF-SERVICE BIKES: THE MARCEL A VÉLO MEANS FREEDOM!

Since June 29, 2021, Troyes Champagne Métropole has been providing users with a new self-service bicycle service. These bikes are called "Le Marcel à Vélo".

"Le Marcel à Vélo" consists of 130 electrically-assisted bicycles (with a minimum range of 25 km) distributed across 28 stations located in eight communes of the conurbation (Troyes train station, Tourist Office, university campuses, Moulins and Fouchy parks, Aqualuc, Complexe 3 seine - Cinéma, Sainte-Savine market square, Hôpital Simone-Veil, Parc Grimont in St Julien les Villas, Le Moulinet in Pont Ste Marie...) . New stations will be added in the coming years.

Accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, "Le Marcel à Vélo" is ideal for business meetings, daily commutes or for leisure and relaxation.

- Why "Le Marcel à Vélo"?
By adopting the name "Le Marcel à Vélo", Troyes Champagne Métropole's self-service bicycle rental service pays tribute to the Aube region's greatest cyclist: Marcel Bidot (1902-1995). A former member of the Union Vélocipédiste de l'Aube, he won two stages of the Tour de France, finishing 5th in 1930, and numerous other competitions, including the 1929 French championship. It was mainly as technical director of the French team for ten years that this strict, severe but fair-minded man of integrity and devotion to his riders enjoyed his greatest successes, helping Louison Bobet (1953, 1954, 1955), Jacques Anquetil (1957) and Roger Pingeon (1967) to triumph in the Grande Boucle. Locally, he also organized the Paris-Troyes race. He died in Saint-Lyé, in the Troyes Champagne Métropole area, and his name remains inextricably linked with the finest hours of French cycling.
