He graduated from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Nantes and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. “Trees taught me painting. The color, the shadows, the lights. listen to them, follow them, their movement. I know nothing without them, they are my masters. When I paint a portrait of a tree I also feel indebted to the tree in front of me. Of course he can't see but he is still there, like a mirror of what I paint. If he has no eyes to see, I have seen him, or rather he has let himself be seen, and what I have seen I must be faithful to.
