Eglise Saint-Laurent de Nogent-sur-Seine |
Listed as a Historic Monument, it was built over two centuries, between 1421 and 1551. It has a very rich movable heritage often made by renowned artists (Marius Ramus, Alfred Boucher and Paul Dubois). Its Gothic and Renaissance architecture and its 37m high tower make it an exceptional monument. Also discover its great 16th century organ. The original plan, in the shape of a Latin cross, was reworked in the 15th century during the reconstruction of the choir, in a Gothic style. In the 16th century, it was modified by the addition of Renaissance chapels around the choir. The building houses a rich collection of works of art and furniture, most of which are classified or registered as Historic Monuments. For several years, the City has undertaken a program to enhance this heritage through restorations which was completed in 2021, for the 600th anniversary of the church. The Tourist Office offers guided tours* and climbs to the bell tower* for individuals on fixed dates (do not hesitate to ask us for the program) or for groups by reservation. * Paid activities
